Here’s how you can Pray in 2023 using the – JOY structure: Jesus Other Yourself Focus on Jesus. Focus on your savior and what He did on the cross for you. As we celebrate the New Year, let’s not forgot the birth of Christ that we celebrated just a few days ago! Focus on Others. How can you lift up others in prayer? Do you have friends and family members’ prayers in mind? Lift them up in prayer and intercede for people you love. Too many times we forget to lift up our friends who are not saved or pray for our fellow friends who may be drifting away from the Lord. Ask God to reveal Himself to your friends and families. Yes, now comes the easy part – Yourself. Lift up your personal prayers to God. This sequence of order is important because too many times we forget to pray for others and even worse honor the Lord in our prayer. That is why most prayer structures start with God in the first place! It also reflects the sequence in which Jesus prayed in the Lord’s prayer. Matthew 6:9-13 ESV Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Again we do not want to dismiss your personal prayers, rather we don’t want the focus of our prayer to be on ourselves. Watch how this can transform the way you pray! In conclusion, close your prayer going back to the Lord – thank God for who He is. Thank God in all the ways He is working in your life. In Jesus name we pray, Amen! Do you have a reading plan?
